Subscriptions – Become a supporter of Stichproben
In 2026, Stichproben celebrates its 25th anniversary; at the same time, Special Issue 1/2026 marked the publication of its 50th issue. Since its first issue (1/2001), Stichproben has been available under a Gold Open Access model. As a journal based at the Department of African Studies at the University of Vienna, it is supported by a dedicated editorial team and published independently by the Association Stichproben. To support the work of Stichproben in the long term, you can become a supporter by taking out an annual subscription.
By taking out an annual subscription, you are supporting the work of Stichproben – Vienna Journal of African Studies:
- Austria: € 35 per subscription year
- Europe (including the UK, Switzerland and Norway): € 50 per subscription year
- Worldwide: € 75 per subscription year
The prices quoted apply to a printed copy, including postage to the selected region. The subscription is taken out for an indefinite period. One subscription year comprises one printed copy. The subscription fee is payable in advance for each subscription year. The subscription is automatically renewed for a further subscription year unless cancelled.
You may cancel your subscription at any time by emailing stichproben.afrikanistik(at)univie.ac.at. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the subscription year for which payment has already been made.
If you become a supporter by taking out an annual subscription by the end of 2026, you can choose three copies of your choice from all issues published to date, and you will receive these free of charge.
Please complete the form below. By submitting it, you are simply making a non-binding subscription inquiry. This does not yet entail any payment obligation. Once your details have been checked, you will receive a personalised offer from the editorial team with payment details. The subscription will be activated upon receipt of your bank transfer. The contractual partner for the subscription and the publisher of the journal is the Stichproben association.
